Social Isolation

All your friends are having babies, your pleased for them of course you are they are you dearest friends.

But does anybody feel social isolation?

The feeling that all the chat is all about the babies, about how busy they are with all the mums from school, how exhausted they are, how they would love to have some me time for those that are childless not by choice or childfree by choice you all know what i mean.

You have interesting things to say, you have been living life as well, things have been happening in your life too – but it all seems to be to insignificant sometimes. It seems like   you can’t have a ‘normal conversation’ anymore about anything out of the parental chat.

Sometimes your friends can seem totally oblivious to how it makes you feel, and when all we want to be in is the ‘Mummy Club’ which forms much of their day-to-day, we start to feel increasingly isolated.

Relationships start to change and your not sure if it is because you are isolating your self or because you feel you have nothing in common anymore. Some of my friendships not being as close as they once were was partly due to my own withdrawing to deal with my own depression, thoughts and feelings of isolation. I do miss them but maybe sometimes we are on different paths and we do just drift away.

I am on a new journey at the moment and I am connecting to women literally all over the world and finding my tribe, my tribe of women that are in the same situation, either  childfree by choice or not by choice. I also still have my close friendship group that I love to bits. But the new tribe of women I am connected to help me feel not so isolated and totally understand and ‘get’ me and what I am going through from the same perspective.
